“Jewelry”: Van Cleef & Arpels Étoile des glaciers Diamond Brooch
Crafted in white and yellow gold with round and briolette cut sapphires, round cut yellow diamonds, and marquise, round, step and square cut colourless diamonds..
This diamond brooch from the Van Cleef & Arpels 2023 ‘Le Grand Tour’ High Jewellery collection is inspired by the wild snowdrops blooming in the Alps. The designer has skilfully interpreted the pure white petals with diamonds, embellished with yellow diamond stamens and sapphire details, to create the richness of the Alpine wildflower.
Since Van Cleef & Arpels was founded in 1906, natural flowers have always been one of the House’s most important inspirations. Inspired by a scene from the French novelist George Sand’s 1833 literary work Lélia, which depicts the Alps, this new creation recreates the image of snowdrops waking up to the warmth of the sun and bursting into bloom.
Crafted in white and yellow gold, the brooch features six snowdrops in full bloom – the delicate fuzz and white petals of the snowdrops are interpreted in different faceted diamonds such as teardrops and marquises; the stamens are adorned with round yellow diamonds, like the warmth of sunlight pouring down; and round and teardrop sapphires set between the crevices create the jewellery’s dynamic beauty of light and shadow.
